Dear colleagues, the organizing committee is delighted to announce the keynote speaker for the opening ceremony of ECGH2024 : With the keynote lecture “Beyond Flow Assurance - Opportunities and Challenges with Gas Hydrates”, we are pleased to welcome Prof. Peter Englezos, who has pushed the boundaries of gas hydrate research with his groundbreaking research.
Clathrate hydrates are substances with specific abilities to capture and store components as well as energy. They pose a wide range of questions, from fundamental inquiries aimed at understanding their role in the Earth's global behavior or the genesis of planets, to their utilization in industrial applications with reduced environmental impact.
This conference provides an opportunity to discuss challenges related to five themes : Fundamentals, Flow assurance and flow modeling, Natural gas hydrate systems and climate change, Hydrate-based and energy-efficient technologies, and Hydrates in Astrophysics.
We hope that this second European conference will be an opportunity to promote a new cycle of European meetings, providing time for discussions and the sharing of visions to contribute to general knowledge and European policies. Moreover, we aim to open and consolidate European cooperation on this topic.
We encourage Ph.D. students and PostDoc fellows to attend in large numbers and actively participate in the conference. A special prize for the best poster will be awarded by the Ph.D. students themselves. The young scientific committee, composed exclusively of young researchers, will grant a special prize for the best oral presentation to a Ph.D. student or a young post-doc fellow to promote mobility.
Please come, inform your network, and join us in Trieste, the current Italian capital of science, and for the duration of the conference, the European capital of hydrate research. We host the conference in an affordable yet friendly environment, next to Miramare Park, where you can enjoy the view and network. We have deliberately chosen to keep the fees affordable with a zero-margin budget.
